12 August 2005 - day 1
Colby was due on 6th August 2005, and true to form, kept us waiting! She finally went into 1st stage labour on 12 August (1st birthday of her "G" litter) and we performed an elective caesarian, which turned out to be necessary anyway, so at least we spared her the strain of protracted labour. She produced 11 pups - far more than we anticipated
|
Ready for surgery - Colby was also spayed due to excessive bleeding from her uterus. |
|
The pups kept warm in the incubator during surgery and recovery - 3 black girls, 3 harlequin girls, 1 merlequin girl, 1 white girl, 3 black boys |
|
The pups stay in a separate box in the whelping box to avoid accidental squashing by Colby, and feed in relays so everybody is well fed - especially the smaller pups. Here they are all together, at 2 days old

8 days
Growing steadily ,we were surprised that the little 200g survived and proved to be a real trooper!
All growing well |
|
3 weeks
By 3 weeks, the pups are in the big whelping box, eating well, spending less and less time with colby and starting to play with each other - or sleep...
